天津大學(xué)（Tianjin University, Peiyang University），簡稱“天大”，坐落于天津市，其前身為北洋大學(xué)，始建于1895年10月2日，是中國第一所現(xiàn)代大學(xué)。1951年，北洋大學(xué)與河北工學(xué)院合并定為現(xiàn)名。是享譽(yù)海內(nèi)外的綜合性高水平研究型大學(xué)。

Tianjin University is the oldest institution of higher education in the modern history of China. 天津大學(xué)は教育部直屬の國家重點(diǎn)大學(xué)であり、中國最初の現(xiàn)代大學(xué)である北洋大學(xué)（1895年10月2日創(chuàng)設(shè)）を前身としています。常に「實(shí)事求是（事実に基づいて真実を求める）」を校訓(xùn)とし、「嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)治學(xué)（謹(jǐn)厳に學(xué)問を治める）」を校風(fēng)とし、「愛國?奉獻(xiàn)」を伝統(tǒng)とし、國內(nèi)外で高い評価を得ています。1951年に中國政府の學(xué)部再編を経て「天津大學(xué)」に改稱され、1959年に中國共産黨中央委員會(huì)が認(rèn)定した第1期16校の國家重點(diǎn)大學(xué)の1校に指定されました?！?11工程」および「985工程」の第1期重點(diǎn)建設(shè)大學(xué)、「國家世界一流大學(xué)への建設(shè)工程」のA類大學(xué)にも選ばれています。
